Our November 2, 2025, field trip to the GCAS library and lab to sort orphan potsherds by color succeeded in 7 members processing 1-1/2 bins of plainware, corrugated, and painted sherds. The early autumn weather was stellar and just right for inspecting the site of the future Back to the Earth garden project. Indoors, after our group sorted sherds and re-bagged them by color pattern, we took time to examine samples of the GCAS’s assemblages of smaller artifacts. We have 6 more bins of orphan sherds to process, so there will be plenty of opportunity in the near future for GCAS members to join in the fun and learn about the GCAS’s full inventory of research materials and artifacts. Stand by for news of future dates!
